Presentation Learning Objectives:

1. First objective: Examine the role of a dietetics preceptor as a teacher, a mentor, and a learner.

2. Second objective: Review the qualities of effective and ineffective dietetics preceptors as reported by dietetic interns.

3. Third objective: Explore future directions in optimizing the training and retention of impactful preceptors

Speaker:  

Stacey Shawhan, RD, CSO, LD is a two-time graduate of Ohio University, having earned a Bachelor of Science in 2014 and a Master of Science more recently in 2024. She has been working in outpatient oncology for about 10 years and has a Specialty Certification in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) from CDR. A proponent of academic medicine, Stacy finds fulfillment in precepting dietetic interns and other health sciences students throughout the year. Outside of the office, you will find her training for her next marathon, snuggling on the couch with her dog, or reading a new murder mystery novel.

Cost:

Free for GCDA members, $10 for non-GCDA Members, and $5 for non-GCDA Member Students
