Presentation Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the stages of sleep.
  2. Understand the relationship of sleep and chronic disease.
  3. Identify nutrition interventions for achieving recommended quantity and quality of sleep.
  4. Discuss strategies to improve sleep.

Presenters:

Diane M. Dew, MEd, RD, LD, MSC, FAND

Diane is a registered dietitian and Certified Executive Coach. Her personal mission is to provide all clients with the knowledge and behavior change tools essential to making optimal nutrition, wellness and business behavior changes. 

As a Health Coach Diane identifies specific nutrition and lifestyle behaviors such as sleep for the adult and geriatric populations. She works to identify innovative and impactful strategies unique to each individual or group that leads to a positive change.  As a Certified Executive Coach Diane follows the Sherpa Process in working with clients to elicit business behavior changes. Diane has over twenty years of experience in the field of education, working for both Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and Wilmington College.  She operates an independent consulting company focusing on the delivery of both nutrition services and executive coaching.  Diane is also an author of a technical policy and procedure manual as well as a “self-help” nutrition book and a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Maggie Huey, RD, LD

Maggie is a registered dietitian at Cincinnati Children Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) within the Pulmonary Department. As a clinician for pediatric populations, she provides medical nutrition therapy in multiple interdisciplinary clinics at CCHMC which include the Complex Obstructive Sleep Apnea clinic, the General Sleep Clinic, and the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) clinic. She has her Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics and Adults through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Maggie is continuing her education as a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati.

Cost:

Free for GCDA members, $10 for non-GCDA Members and $5 for non-GCDA Member Students
