Intermittent Fasting and Weight Loss in Obese Adults

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss whether intermittent fasting is more effective for weight loss in overweight/obese adults as compared to calorie restriction and why.
  2. Compare types of intermittent fasting (5:2 method, week on/week off method, alternative day method) and whether one is more effective for weight loss than the others.
  3. Discuss whether adherence improves with intermittent fasting vs. calorie restriction.
  4. Determine whether intermittent fasting improves fasting glucose, serum lipids, body composition, and other risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
